Fistral Beach, located on the north coast of Cornwall has been the home of UK surfing ever since modern day fibreglass surfboards were introduced onto our shores from 4 Australian lifesavers over 50 years ago. Today the surfing culture continues to thrive in Newquay with Fistral Beach hosting regular national and international surf competitions throughout the year.
It’s no surprise then, that with such a rich surfing heritage, Fistral Beach is an ideal place to learn to surf, with numerous surf schools giving you the chance to sample the extreme sport whilst on holiday.
If you’re not the surfing kind then don’t worry – the long golden sands of Fistral Beach act as a perfect setting to chill out and relax by the sea, and when you do fancy a dip in the water you will be safe in the knowledge that a designated bathing area is in place to avoid any accidents with surfers.
The Fistral Beach complex is a constant buzz, with shops and eateries if you fancy a break from sunbathing. For the golfers in the family, the beach backs onto a Links golf course offering fantastic views over the ocean. A 15 minute walk takes you into the town centre and to Newquay’s other beaches.
Fistral beach is dog friendly all year round.
