Castle beach is a lovely narrow stretch of golden sand, nestled below Falmouth’s sea front with fantastic views across Falmouth Bay and Pendennis Castle. Located towards the end of Cliff Road and near Pendennis point, Castle beach has a more relaxed atmosphere compared to nearby Gyllyngvase beach.
Besides relaxing in the sun, the beach is famous for it’s rockpools, and when the tide drops away, large rocky areas are uncovered that are teaming with sea life – perfect for exploring with the little ones. At high tide, most of the beach is covered so please be aware of this when visiting.
Castle Beach Cafe (shown above) is right on hand if you get peckish, serving fresh food, drinks and ice cream throughout the day. Deck chair hire is available and there’s also free WiFi for all customers, allowing you to sit back, relax and surf the web with beautiful views!
Roadside parking is available along Cliff Road (which overlooks the beach) with easy access down to Castle beach via a sloped path. Although dogs are banned on the beach during the summer months, the cafe welcomes dogs onto the raised cafe area.
